Borderlands Re-playability: Very High

You’d think that a game with just one thing to do over and over would get boring after awhile. Well, Borderlands is not the case. You do only have one thing to do, the main story (and I suppose the two DLC) and then that’s it. But, there is so much re-playability. Why? Here’s the three reasons.

Playthrough #2

After originally beating Borderlands on a character, you unlock a mode called “Playthrough 2″. This mode is nothing different from the main story, except that all the enemies are a lot tougher. For example, Bandits are level 5 when you see them in 1, and about 30 in 2.

Guns guns guns guns guns

Something that never gets old is using so many different guns. They all do different things and look cool. Never gets old.

Co-Op

Co-Op makes enemies tougher. But it’s also fun to dick around with your buddies.

Borderlands: A review (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)

FPS games are certainly not new to the world of gaming, and neither are RPGs. However, the unfortunate child of the two is a bit newer, and features in a newer title for the 360, PS3, and PC, Borderlands. But can this new wasteland-survival game match up with similar games such as Fallout 3 and Oblivion?

As with most RPGs (not necessarily FPS), story is a main part of the game. Games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion threw you into a story of saving the world, with a side of ass-kicking FPS action. Borderlands, however, is the other way around. This time, the focus is on the “shoot ‘em up” aspect of the game, with a side of a mediocre story. This isn’t as bad as it would seem, though. Collecting gear and using it to kill everything you see never got so fun.

The best way to settle issues with the wildlife is bullets. Lots of bullets. The best way to settle issues with the local wildlife is bullets. Lots of bullets.

The basic story of Borderlands is thus. You arrive on a planet called Pandora in search of a vault filled with riches beyond you imagination, like everyone else capable of carrying a gun. Upon arrival, you immerse yourself into the locals, doing quests and jobs for them, and getting to know the landscape, getting closer to the vault each step of the way. But, the story lacks beef, and once you get into the game, becomes a matter of very little focus.

The main feature of Borderlands is guns and loot. Enemies drop random weapons, containers hold random weapons and money… The list goes on and on. You’ll never run out of different guns to use, even on your second playthrough.

Moar Borderlands

This game is great. I mean, going around killing things and getting awesome looking guns? I love it. You don’t have to worry about getting lost in a story or anything, just go around and shoot stuff.

Gonna go play it. :D

Borderlands – A first glance

Something that isn’t about EVE?! *gasp* So with some Christmas money, I decided to head over to Gamestop and pick up a new game. The three I considered were Assassin’s Creed II, Left 4 Dead II, and Borderlands. I ruled out Assassin’s Creed II mainly because the first one bored me to death, and Left for Dead is awesome, but I got bored of the first one, and it was only fun really with friends. I wanted a game I could play by myself (the Co-Op an extra bonus) and since Borderlands reminded me a lot of Fallout 3 (My favorite 360 game) I picked it up.

Basically, the main appeal of the game is the loot. There are so many guns in the game, and they have rarities, so getting all the orange (rarest) weapons is something I want to do. Story is really lame to be honest, but shooting enemies with a bunch of awesome guns never gets old. ;)

This is my beastly plan for the Tech II frigate, The Wolf. It’s freakin’ epic. This is the plan, copied from EVEMon!

Tanking in EVE Online

Firstly, this term applies mainly to PvP, although it applies to missioning too.

If you don’t know what tanking is, I’ll break it down. Tanking is basically being able to take damage and heal that damage at the same rate so it cancels out. Basically, you’ll never die. In EVE, there are two types of tanking, and four ways you can tank, based on the damage types.

There is Shield Tanking and Armor Tanking, and the four damage types are Kinetic, Exposive, Electromagnetic, and Thermal.

All it is basically is buffing up either shield or armor to take hits but never go down all the way. :)

Level II missions >>>>> Level I

In terms of being really freakin’ hard! Jeeze. :’(

Insert witty title here

Christmas is over already. Oh well. What I got, a quick summary of the good things:

  • New Gaming Router
  • Awesome Robe
  • Money

And I really don’t remember anything else. :P

Been playing EVE recently (no wai!). I got cruisers up to II, and I’m training some gunnery skills and such. Otherwise not much to report really. Loving the game. :)
